The SRN 2000-D-Ex twilight photocell is primarily intended to switch on lights, optical signalling devices, etc. automatically when it gets dark. When the intensity of the ambient light falls below a set value (the crossover threshold can be set by the operator), the internal load relay is activated and the light or device connected to it is turned on. The SRN 2000-D-Ex is a compact twilight photocell for use in areas with explosive atmospheres. The device is designed in such a way that it can be used in zones 1 + 2 of group II without additional explosion protection means. An implemented switching hysteresis and a short-term timer of approx. 4 – 5 minutes to bridge brief variations in the light intensity prevents unwanted switching of the load relay caused by sporadic light when the twilight photocell is activated or brief covering of the twilight sensor when it is not activated.

Especially if the fire has broken out in an area where there is a danger of explosions, e.g. in the chemical industry, refineries, mills and harbour facilities as well as on ships and oil rigs. This fire alarm switch is ideal for use wherever total reliability can save lives and prevent damage. The housing is made of glass-fibre reinforced polyester, coated red and designed for surface mounting in hazardous areas. The device is equipped with a push-button switch behind a glass pane. It switches a built-in explosion-protected make and break contact or, in the GLU version, a change-over contact.
